DJ MO.Love is in this, well — for the love. That means that I do not accept payment for gigs. That’s right. I’m blessed to have a great job that pays the bills, and I don’t want to make my love of music feel like work.
That does not mean this isn’t a pro operation. I have put hundreds of hours into my craft and I invest at least an hour of gig-specific prep time into each hour of performance I put on for you. I will only do 10-15 shows a year, so I’m picky about what I’ll do. I favor dive bars and charity events. I’ll also do church events and can put on a family-friendly playlist.
Because of this, I have the following non-negotiable rules for my gigs:
Again, I will accept no cash compensation.
Unless your event is a charity fundraiser, I will have a tip jar with all proceeds going to The Agape Clinic, where I serve on the board.
I have my own equipment and can use my sound system or yours. If using mine, you agree to supply someone to help me load in/out.
You can request “family-friendly” or “anything goes.”
While I will ask you for your favored genres and work hard to feel and match the vibe of the event, you can not tell me what to play.
You will supply me with non-alcoholic beverages throughout the gig. If your venue serves adult beverages, you’ll supply me with alcohol during the final hour of my set only. If the gig is longer than five hours, you’ll supply me with a meal, if there is already food on premise.
